Multisystem inflammatory syndrome in Children (MIS-C)

What is MIS-C in children ?  Linked to the COVID 19 virus, the Multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C) is a serious condition which might seriously inflame some organs and tissues such as the heart, lungs, blood vessels, kidneys, digestive system, brain, skin or eyes. In very rare cases, it is developed within adults (MIS-A)

MIS-C is a rare condition and can eventually be cured with medical attention but some cases might worsen, leading to critical stages. Therefore, it is extremely important to get medical supervision if your child is showing any symptoms.

  3. मतली (जी मिचलाना)।

Once MIS-C is diagnosed, children will need to be followed over time with laboratory tests to evaluate inflammation, blood clotting, liver function, heart function, and other aspects of their ailment. Children ought to have echocardiograms to assess their heart and coronary arteries.

Depending on your child’s symptoms and test results, treatment may include:

  1. Heart medicines or low-dose aspirin
  2. Intravenous immune globulin (IVIG)
  3. Fluids given through a vein
  4. steroids to help treat swelling or inflammation

To prevent your child from getting infected from MIS-C, avoid exposure to COVID 19 which can be done through:

  1. Wearing a mask in public (should cover nose to chin)
  2. Wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
  3. Practice social distancing
  4. Clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces every day
  5. Avoid touching your nose, eyes and mouth
  6. Wash clothing and other items as needed
